Hola! and welcome to my blog. I’m an instructional tech specialist in a medium-sized urban school district in Michigan. Like all schools we struggle with funding and I find I get caught up in software management tasks and problem-solving more often than I get to do what I really love which is explore, create, share and collaborate with colleagues and kids. So…this is it. Combined with my wiki (westmi-edtech.wikispaces.com) I hope to build a space that you find useful, informative and slightly entertaining.
Professional Me: 15 years teaching Spanish, English and ESL I’ve worked in just about any setting imaginable; from pre-school to community college, north shore Catholic to south side public, single sex and co-ed. And I spent 2 1/2 years on the foreign language staff at a Korean High School. I have BA in Spanish, English & Translation. I’m certified 6-12 Spanish & English and have an MA in Technology & Curriculum Design.
Personal Me: I married my high school sweetheart and his two boys 20 years after the fact. I love to travel and experience new things, work for social justice and anything creative; cooking from scratch, music and art.
I guess when you think about it that fits pretty well with my career — an educator in an urban school, who actively seeks out innovative ideas and works to make them fit for teachers and kids.
Thanks for visiting!
